New Mexico (1975 Remix)

I can't believe what you said
to me, as I send myself off
to climb the white sand
of New Mexico. You know
I seek solace out there. I wish
I could get to know you but I can't
get that close. And I guess
its not 1963, cause I can't catch
the wind I breathe. And I guess
its not 1975, though the politics
are cruel-- and I can't get that close.

Jacque Cousteau and Sylvia Earle
Fisheries whining with lovers quarrel
Inner tube, I'm too fat to get in you
not like that, I'm just floating on
without you, both are strong 75' Jaws
and poems about coke and loss.
‘cause I'm a sad sap
and you're a...
‘cause I'm a sad sap
and your waves are weeds.

Ochre House

Rifted up it's the wild west. I don't know
what I've been thinking off my meds.
Brick by brick it's a ladder straight
to bed. I've been missing all those sacred
places to live. Table for two white table
cloth is set. I don't know what I've been
thinking what you said. Here the chairs
aren't sturdy and the cloth is criss crossed
in red. So it’s a country house and it seems
so wrong I've misplaced your blouse. Now,
I've been put in my place. Its the friends
you worship whether you deserve it,
a warm bed, still and set but you're a baby
thats just been born, your legs are shifting
and you're uncertain whether you exist.
It’s the bitter cold. It’s the icy snow.
It’s the chemicals in my brain.

I remember last halloween
Oh I wish I had a party:
I would dress like Leon Russell,
from his old album, Carney.
I remember last halloween
Oh I wish I had a party:
I would dress like Marilyn Manson
and not look in the mirror.

Leach
Hanging off of me
Flick it to the street
Crush between my toes
Bloody that is me
You got me beached
I'm taken like a stray--
Oh what a bummer
Summer hunger
‘Cause I'm that black fish swimming around
killing what keeps it from dying young
And I'm that carnival clown
They say up on a tight wire
One side is ice another is fire
I don't know what you singers say
I guess that means you're talking about the gray
Bait
Full circle back to me
Looks like I've been seized
Abused like cigarettes
Self conflicted bet
You got me beached
I'm taken like a stray
Oh what a bummer
Summer hunger
Oh what a beach bum
I have become
Between you and me
Like an inside joke from "Carney"
What a beach bum bumpkin.

Down Tide
02:45
|

Surfs up, but I've never been told
about the danger of what's beneath the undertow
It’s like a pot of gold--
like surfing that I've never done
Brian and I talked about self esteem
Just like me and strangers talk about what russell sings
our faces feeling ochre
I think I must be older
collectors edge but I'm not so quick
All the old ladies with their satchels picking up them
Like surfing down a river
Feeling orange almost citrus
‘Cause it’s all down tide
and I think I found some down time

Amity

Always cool to complain
But it's fine, not insane
Mr. Dead and Mrs. None
Internet doctor that I caught
Living of a little mime
Open up your mouth and say
Keep your eagerness in mind
Some say forgiveness is a little lame,
I don't feel like complete Amity
The police aren't here
Scientists like those 50's moms left home to work all day
Fishermen doing their job
Listening to the 70's sob
Thinking will make you sad
Gotta feel like you have
